5 Reasons why Ebola could not thrive in Nigeria

Speaking with a correspondent who told me that this was the second thing Nigeria could handle well next to hosting FESTAC. Was is Nigeria really lucky or did they really handle this Ebola virus in a very expedite way? Not to judge but I have pulled out five reasons why Nigeria was regarded as luck.

1. EBOLA WAS OVER EXAGGERATED IN NIGERIA:
Obviously I never knew Ebola was air borne till it crossed the Nigerian boarders. Nigerians raised a high red alert on this issue. Am not trying to make a case for the virus but people took advantage of the whole issue in importation of face mask and hand creams. Trust me every one was a suspect.

2. WELL PUBLICIZED:
I wake up one day with several calls running through my phone; Salt and Hot Walter cure for Ebola. Only Nigerians could be this creative in his publicizing a very serious issue. But surprising to know that so called elites fell for this cheap scam. Well MTN was on business again! Trust me where you see danger, some people venture.

3. OCCURRED AMONG MIDDLE CLASS CITIZEN:
The introduction of the virus by Sawyer was curtailed as much as possible from poor citizens who could share the virus if contacted like wild fire. Imagine Ajegunle, Mushin or populous locations that share limited resourced like toilet and transportation system? I think the contact tracing would fail at that point.

4. WASN’T AN ETHNIC ISSUE:
If Ebola is Christian-ed, Yorubic or upper-class inflicting; the government and some citizen would have went on with their daily business without showing any sign on concern or sympathy.

5. LESS NUMBER OF CONTACTS:

Nigeria with all their resources could have found it hard if the index carrier had made contact with a high number of citizens. We were lucky to have him moved from the airport to the hospital where he eventually died. Now that is miracle.
